The Definition of An Independent Fashion Revolution

Aesthetic Design was born out of pure passion for changing the way one thinks about styling the clothes they wear and how they feel about themselves. Fashion is so much more than just clothes - it is about expressing oneself through the presentation of ourselves to others. In other words, how we dress and how we put ourselves "out there" is very important to how we feel on the inside.

Someone once told me that if you wake up and are not having a good day - dress up! I thought to myself how dumb that was because if I wanted to feel sorry for myself and have a bad day that was my choice. Why would I want to dress up? Then I thought about it. I answered my own question. We CHOOSE to feel the way we do and treat ourselves the way we do. It is a choice. Why not choose to feel good and look good and then we feel good again!

I referred to an independent fashion revolution above. This, to me, means finding the most expressive and unique pieces and designers and wearing them in all their glory. The BEST is when someone comes up to you and asks "where did you get that?" and it is a designer just starting out or not well known yet. As much as I adore and owe much of my love of great fashion to Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, Valentino, Halston, Ralph Lauren, Yves St. Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, and many others, I LOVE the art of the journey. That means finding someone spectacular with exquisite talent and taste before anyone else does. OR finding something vintage and bringing it back to life! I love that too.

This month I am reading the book: Style A to Zoe - The Art of Fashion, Beauty, & Everything Glamour by Celebrity Stylist Rachel Zoe with Rose Apodaca. Let me tell you how pleasantly surprised I was by this book. I could not put it down! It was so much about finding out who you are as a person and letting your own style come through glamourously! I was impressed with Rachel and the way she worded the book. If you get a chance to read it, let me know what you think. There are a lot of things written about her but I have to say I really like her a lot after reading this book. I also have to admit I watched her show "The Rachel Zoe Project" on BRAVO and it gave me another prospective on her as well.

This is my very first blog ever and I look forward to sharing my obscure and fabulous finds with you as well as getting your feedback on what an independent fashion revolution means to you.
