Top 5 Summer Trends for 2011

1)      Turbans

Spice up any boring outfit with a turban. They come in all different styles, patterns and colors to fit your personal style. Well known in Hollywood, this summer trend is making its way throughout the country. Be the first in your local area to showcase this fabulous trend!

2)      Bell-Bottoms

The 70’s are back!!!!  If you’re going to wear this trend, do it in style.  Be sure to tuck in your favorite shirt and throw on a skinny belt to add some flare. Don’t be caught wearing flats in your bell-bottoms, instead wear a simple wedge to give a great finish look to this chic yet comfortable and easy trend.

      3)      Tribal Prints

Make a bold statement in Tribal Prints this summer! Found all over the runways, designers are taking this on and off trend to the next level by using the classic tribal prints and adding geometric elements, as well as color to spice up any look.

4)      White Lace

What woman doesn’t look gorgeous in white lace? This trend can be found in tops, bottoms, undergarment, handbags, even shoes! White lace has a way of making women look elegant and polished; every woman needs lace alone in their wardrobe.

      5)      Kitten Heels

Girls, give your feet a break from those stilettos. Instead, put on a shorter heel known as the kitten heel. Although it doesn’t give the height that most women prefer, its simple yet elegant look can add glamour to any wardrobe.

What I Wore - Jessica Quirk

Jessica is now adding Author to her resume.  Her first book "What I Wore:  Four Seasons, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style" will be out in less than two weeks but you can WIN a copy of her book today by reading about it on her blog - CLICK HERE to enter now!  While blogging is the way our society communicates, we can't help but bite our nails as we wait to see all the fashion glory in full color within the pages we can hold in our little hands.  There is something about a book to really bring life to a subject and fashion happens to be our very favorite!

Read a little more about Jessica from a short bio from her world famous blog :)

Bathing Beauties

It is officially SUMMER! At least that is what it feels like to me. I finished all my finals for school today and I leave for England in two days, definitely feeling the warm weather now. The biggest thing in fashion during the summer holidays is always the dreaded bathing suit.

A bathing suit can either make you a goddess in the sun or a fashion no no under the umbrella. Here are the latest trends in bathing gear to keep you hip and running for the sun instead of away from it.

Prints are a big deal this season

Belted suits add style

Ruching takes us back

These are just a few trends that will keep you cool during the hot summer months whether it’s with a retro one pieces or bright two-pieces. England isn’t known for its sunshine so I will just have to test some of these out when I get back.

Mallory Speaks

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Mallory Thomas and I’m proudly one of the new interns for Aesthetic Design Style House. I’m currently attending Ball State University and majoring in Apparel Design. I’m excited to say I’ll be graduating next month and looking forward to what life has to offer.

About me: I’m a small town girl born and raised in Rochester, Indiana. I’m the middle child of three girls and have such an amazing and supporting family.

Why Fashion? I’ve always had a love for fashion ever since I was in elementary school. During class while others were scribbling on the side of their paper, I was sketching what I thought was going to be my first line. Little did I know, I was going to be creating my first small line in college. Here’s a little peak of a few of my garments I’ve created that were inspired by the Hamptons.

Inspirations: I am inspired by my environment, street fashion, and celebrities… just to name a few. In my free time, besides designing and sketching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, shopping, and listening to music.

Goals: Fashion has a great impact on the world today, it’s everywhere you look and my goal in life is to create garments that make others feel good about themselves while still getting to express their personalities.

I’m looking forward to learning more about ADSH and all of the wonderful and talented Designer’s, Stylist’s, Model’s, and Photographer’s that make this such a wonderful company to intern for and represent.

Congrats to Alyssa & Tiffiany

Congrats to our own Alyssa Benner and Tiffiany Gilstrap-Scott of Clique Da Cour for their participation in this weekend's Indy Fashion Time.

Tiffiany Gilstrap-Scott of Clique Da Cour with her hairstylist and models.
Tiffiany's pieces reflected the romantic side of Clique Da Cour infusing lace, ruffles and fabric that showed movement with every step.

Alyssa and her models.
Alyssa's pieces had a circus theme. The splash of bold color, print and texture could be seen throughout her garments.

Even though our girls didn't win the main prize, a $1000 scholarship and sewing machines and accessories from sewing machine manufacturer, Baby Lock, they're still winners in our family. Congratulations ladies, we hope to see great things from you in the future.

Special thanks to Sarah, Amber, Mallory, Julia, Janelle and all the models who helped Tiffiany and Alyssa on their special day with hair and makeup!

The Interns Take Over ADSH!

This week begins our Intern Takeover of our blog!  Enjoy the next few weeks with a fresh perspective on all things fashion from the inside out.  Without further ado MEET AMBER!

I am so excited to have this opportunity to be working with Julia and her team. I just know that I am going to be learning so much from this experience, and my hope is to use all of it to help better my career in the fashion industry.
My name is Amber and I am a junior about to be a senior at the Art Institute of Indianapolis. My interest in fashion didn’t come about until I took a sewing class my sophomore year of high school.  I really loved creating pieces and learning new stitches to put garments together. It fascinated me. Fashion is all about expressing yourself and telling a story, just like any other art form. I originally wanted to go into costume designing for theatre and film, because I have a love of history as well. Now, I’m not so sure that is what I want to do forever. I still have a huge interest in costuming and if the opportunity presented itself I would still love to dabble in it, but there are so many other aspects of fashion I enjoy now to.

A little about my background: I’ve grown up in Indianapolis all my life. I’ve lived in Carmel since I was 7 and before that the Pike area. I have a big family with 3 sisters and 3 brothers that I try to spend as much time with as I can. I went to Carmel High School and graduated in ’09. Other than sewing I enjoy yoga, Pilates, church, cooking, reading, and writing. I am also a music lover of all types of music. I am big into supporting the Indianapolis music scene and try to go to as my shows in the area that I can.  I take every opportunity I can to travel. I’ve only been to a few of the states like California, Florida, Arizona, and Tennessee. Out of the country I’ve been to Aruba, which is beautiful, and in a few short weeks I’ll be traveling to England. I’ll be sure to share all about my experience there.

This is just a little bit about me. Again I can’t express how excited I am to be interning for Aesthetic Design Style House and all the experiences I will be learning from them.
